Writing AI-generated content that sounds natural and human-like is important to get readers to want to read your content and engage with it.

If you're a content writer or a student, you know that AI writing tools have made writing much faster and more efficient, but AI-sounding texts have raised doubts among readers, resulting in the need for AI detectors

Let's be honest: AI writing can sometimes be too polished, vague, and sometimes could contain inaccurate facts, but that doesn’t mean you should throw your AI writing tools away.

You just need to learn how to make AI text undetectable, and in this article, we’re going to show you how.

Why AI content gets flagged

AI detection algorithms don’t “read” content the way humans do. Instead, it analyzes the text to find sentence structure, style of writing, or AI words that are most likely created by an AI writing tool.

When writing contains predictable AI word patterns and a repetitive writing style and structure that doesn’t sound like a human wrote it, your content will be flagged as AI-generated.

However, it is possible to get a false positive reading on content that a human wrote because of the writing style.

How to make AI text undetectable

Here are six tips to make AI text undetectable:

Tip 1: Rewrite AI text and use a conversational tone

AI-generated content can often sound too formal and lacks the creativity we put into writing. You want to rewrite the AI-generated text in a conversational tone.

Write like you’re talking to a friend or a colleague, using a subtle, casual tone to sound more approachable and authentic.

You can use metaphors, idioms, or slang to express thoughts in a way that leaves an indelible impression on your readers and builds a connection with them.

If you’re an individual writing to your audience, using first-person singular pronouns (I, me, my) and second-person singular pronouns (you, your, yours) can make your writing sound conversational and direct.

Keep your sentences varied in length, too. This gives the content a natural flow. Long sentences can create a more in-depth point, while short sentences are more punchy and direct.

Tip 2: Add personal insights

While AI writing tools are not human, of course, they struggle to include personal insights into the content, so you would want to do this yourself by including personal experiences and examples or expressing an opinion about interesting trends in your industry from your viewpoint.

This is something I always do to make my content sound human-written.

If I were writing about the struggles of making AI text undetectable, I’d mention how I’ve had a similar experience with AI content tools that sounded a little too perfect and robotic.

For example, I might say something like, "I've used AI tools before, and I noticed how some of the writing sounded a bit too robotic. Adding my personal touch, even in a business article, made a huge difference."

AI can’t convey personal experiences the way a human writer can. Including your personal touch in your writing can help you humanize AI content, making it undetectable.

Adding personal insights is also a great way to make your writing relatable.

Tip 3: Add humor to your writing

Humor is a great way to make your AI text sound human. Let’s face it—no one likes reading dry, boring content. But again, you want to have a balance and make sure you don’t overdo it.

Adding humor to your content encourages your readers to read your content, improving your engagement.

However, adding humor to your content can be tricky. You want to make sure not to go overboard so you don’t lose focus on the topic.

Humor should be light and sprinkled throughout, never the main focus. This keeps the reader engaged, and Google likes content that maintains the reader’s attention.

In my experience, content that’s both informative and a bit playful tends to perform better in search results. It’s more shareable, too!

Tip 4: Avoid overused AI words

If you want to make AI-generated content undetectable, you want to identify and avoid AI words and phrases like “buzzword,” “robust,” “nuances,” “leverage,” “in the sea of,” “in the realm of,” and “at its core’.

These words sound machine-generated and are often words AI detectors use to identify your writing as AI-generated. You want to use simpler phrases or synonyms that still convey your message.

For example, instead of saying “leveraging AI-driven analytics,” say “using smart data tools” or “applying advanced analytical tools.”

Doing this can make a huge difference in how natural your content sounds and help readers resonate with you.

Tip 5: Adjust your sentence structure

AI sentences can be wordy and unnecessarily long with all the passive phrases and filler words, and AI detectors look for these patterns in your writing.

So, the trick here is to break up those patterns so it’s hard to detect.

Try breaking lengthy chunks of text into shorter paragraphs or paraphrasing sentences and restructuring them.

Add new headers, here and there, to give your content a logical and human-like flow of writing.

You can also occasionally add rhetorical questions to keep your readers hooked.

By adjusting sentence lengths, paraphrasing, adding new headers, and including rhetorical questions, you make your AI text harder to detect.

Tip 6: Proofread and edit

A lot of people feel AI-generated content is perfect and doesn’t need any human edits. You’d be surprised how many people don’t care to proofread or edit their writing.

While AI texts may be sound, polished, and perfect, it’s always important to cross-check your writing for any errors or poor use of words.

Look for any awkward sentences or words that sound a little off. Read it out loud, and if it doesn’t sound right, rephrase it.

You can get an editor to give it some personal touch, make sure your writing flows, and suggest areas where corrections are needed.

In my experience, I’ve found that giving the content one last read-through (or even using a tool like Grammarly) can help you identify those awkward sentences that make your writing get flagged as AI-generated.

Conclusion

AI writing tools have made writing a lot easier for writers. It has helped solve writer's block, a problem a lot of writers face. There is no doubt that these tools are here to stay.

However, as a writer, it is important to learn how to make your AI text undetectable and build trust with readers.

By following the tips discussed in this article, you can manually humanize your AI writing to bypass AI-checking tools.
